Hi, I'm Jackie!

I’m interested in being your City Councillor, and I’d like to tell you a bit about myself.  This is my first time running for public office, and I’m really excited about the possibilities of what we can achieve.

I live in Southwest Edmonton with my wife Natarie and our three daughters. We moved here in 2019 in the months prior to the pandemic, and through that experience we got to witness the strength and resiliency of the city banding together and taking care of each other.  Since that time, we’ve also witnessed the city coming back to life, and each season spent in Edmonton has been an adventure in exploring the River Valley, enjoying the abundant and diverse festivals, and discovering that there is more to Edmonton as we spend time in neighborhoods and communities all around the city. This is the city we’ve chosen to make our home, and it would be an honour to serve on your city council.

Professionally, I am a lifelong social services and healthcare practitioner.  Starting as a pharmacist behind a drugstore counter, I’ve since served in hospital settings, senior’s care, family practice centers, and specialty clinics.  For the last decade, I’ve dedicated my career to working with vulnerable populations experiencing homelessness, first in Community Health Centres in both Calgary and Edmonton, and most recently, with Homeward Trust Edmonton. When society’s most challenging issues (like homelessness) are discussed publicly, the conventional phrase one hears is that “somebody should do something about that". In the most recent part of my career, I’ve been proud to have been a “somebody”, and to have worked alongside dedicated individuals looking to better the lives of other humans.  This is the mentality I will take to City Hall.

Socially, I’ve also been privileged to play an active role in the Chinatown Community in Edmonton. Working alongside those with deep ties to culture and heritage, and often working to bridge the difficult conversations that overlap safety, security, homelessness, and systemic inequity, it is gratifying to see expanding flashes of vibrancy and positivity in downtown spaces. Edmonton is a rich patchwork of diversity, opportunity, and passions, and it is the essential that city services, public infrastructure, and civil servants work to make the City more vibrant, safer, and inclusive every day.

I am proud to put my name forward to serve on Edmonton’s City Council. I hope you’ll support me on this journey.
